01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Tucked away on the 1rd basement floor of Ginza Inz 2 near Yurakucho Station, Tempura Ginza Kanda hangs a welcoming noren curtain over an easygoing izakaya specialising in freshly fried tempura and comforting drinking snacks. The atmosphere inside is unpretentious and relaxed, offering counter seats for solo diners alongside spacious tables suited for unwinding after work.

Signature Kakiage and Custom Tempura Selections

The centerpiece of the menu is the signature kakiage fritter, combining shrimp, squid, and scallop adductor muscle into a crisp cluster available in a single-portion size suited for solo diners. Guests can also build their own spread from individual tempura choices, selecting seafood like goby (haze), flathead (megochi), and Japanese whiting (kisu), or seasonal vegetables such as aubergine and lotus root. A practical way to start is the Kanda Set, which bundles tempura, sashimi, and a rotating monthly dish with one drink to enjoy while awaiting the next hot fry.

Unpasteurised Sake and Varied Small Plates

Drinks pairings run from Sapporo Lager large bottles and Yebisu Premium Black small bottles to Kokuyo, an unpasteurised junmai ginjo sake served fresh from the brewery, alongside regional chilled selections. To accompany the drinks, the kitchen provides a broad roster of savoury small plates: dashi-simmered oden, fragrant fried fish cakes (satsuma-age), lightly dried squid (surume ichiyaboshi), and horse sashimi sourced directly from Kumamoto.

Set Meals and Rice Balls for a Comforting Finish

Those after a complete meal can order full tempura sets or ten-zaru (tempura served with chilled buckwheat noodles). For a gentle finish to an evening of drinks, the kitchen shapes tender onigiri filled with pickled plum or salmon, grills fragrant yaki-onigiri, and prepares soothing dashi-topped ochazuke.
